Star Lord Cards

Oh Chris Pratt... He is so dreamy with his charming, roguish ways and disarmingly attractive goofiness... I'm sorry, what? I got lost for a minute.

I drew up these two cards based on this recent cover from amazing comic artist Sara Pichelli.
By Sara Pichelli

My pictures aren't as good as her's.  The thing that I couldn't quite capture was Star Lord's affable, laid-back cockiness.  I guess it is a harder quality to get than I thought.

Lumpy Space Princess

Whoa.  This is a random card I totally forgot I drew.  But Lumpy Space Princess is easily my favorite character in Adventure Time.  Especially when they did that odd subplot where she ran away from home and became a hobo.

Legend of Korra

"Legend of Korra" is one of the shows that I am currently making my way through.  It was weird. I followed season one closely and then it seemed like I turned around and then it has four seasons under its belt and the series is already over.

Anyways, these are art cards that I drew in anticipation of Kraken Con.  Kraken Con is a small convention that is at the Oakland convention center on April 25 and 26.  Come join me if you'd like.

Adventure Time Cards

More art cards, this time featuring the guys from "Adventure Time".  Finn and Jake (and Lady Rainicorn) are such a delight to draw.  They are easy, very expressive, and can be done quickly.

If any of these cards tickle your fancy, then swing by the Meeleeart booth at Kraken Con April 25 or 26 to see them and more in person.

Super Sketch 3

One thing that struck me when I visited Wonder Con's Artist Alley booth recently was how much friggin' Anna and Elsa from "Frozen" art there was.

Incidentally, I think that Elsa and here slicked back hair is so fun to draw and yet I have never drawn her sister Anna. Maybe one day...

Super Sketch 4

I am not sure if I ever drawn Superman on this website before.  If not, that is a shame because I love Superman.  He is also a lot of fun to draw with all of the muscles, square jaw, and traditional spit-curl hair.

Darth Vader

Here is a secret: I cannot draw Darth Vader.  I never have been good at drawing mechanical things like cars, so drawing Darth Vader's mechanical-like helmet was very difficult for me because it requires me to have exact line precision.

None the less, this is my attempt to draw him for the first time in probably years.  This is done in pencil, which explains why it is so light and sketchy.

Super Sketch 2

Here is a first in a series of super fast headshot sketches that I drew when I was bored. If your don't recognize it, it is Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from probably the best show ever "Breaking Bad". I am midway through season 5 on Netflix so I am greatly anticipating the series finale.

Wolverine's Butt

Sorry, I have been absent for a while from the blog.  Life has gotten in the way of blogging, but I am glad to say that I am still around drawing.

For people not caught up in the current comics, Wolverine has died a few months ago.  Dying, of course, means taking a sabbatical for a year or two before coming back for the inevitable relaunched series.

I have been trying to make my character figures have more realistic lighting.  I think I have mentioned it before, but I like doing this as an exercise to ink better. Also, it just looks so much cooler.  Notice how there is a sketch of a left arm that is half done before I thought of a new way to pose Wolverine's left arm.
